Although interviews vary vastly depending on the leveling or industry of your role, below are some rounds that you will probably run into during your product manager interview.
Hiring Manager
Typically a 30 min call to share a bit more about role with you & understand what you can bring into the role.
Take Home Assignment
Quick product assignment that typically takes 2-3 hours to understand your product craft + domain expertise.
Product Case
45 mins to an hour session with a senior product manager to access your product skills. Some also call this a technical round.
Onsite/Round Table
Consists of 4-5 interviews with cross functional partners. These are often future colleagues that you will collaborate with closely.
Product Leader
Typically last round with CPO or director of Product to get to know you, your aspiration and share more about the company.[
Although not every product case interview is clear cut into 3 categories, below are some general areas you can expect to see in a product case interview:
Product Sense
Open ended question to assess structural thinking and user empathy.
Product Execution
Questions typically revolves around metrics, tradeoffs, debugging.
Product Strategy
Aims to understand how you think strategically with information you know about the market, competitors, while assessing company's short term goal + long term vision.
